The Wisdom of Princess Calathea karya Tien Sri Suhartini

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a very wise king named King Stevan with his beautiful only daughter, Princess Calathea.

We are going to talk about Princess Calathea. She was gorgeous but unfortunately she was blind. Nevertheless she got used to be unable to see things clearly. She just able to see shadow of things.

The people of the kingdom loved her but they doubted her to be the right heiress. The king and also the princess heard about it. The king upset of his people. Then he had an idea. He invited his people to the kingdom. He called Princess Calathea to sit next to him. Then the king asked his people to ask questions to be answered by the princess.

A man rose. Then he asked, " What Will you do when the earthquake appears and the people's houses fell down?" He was not sure the princess would care with such question.

The princess answered determinedly, "I'll welcome those who are homeless to my own home. Then I'll command the architects to rebuild houses that will stand against the earthquake.

The king smiled. He knew her daughter was smarter and wiser than she looked. The people had the same opinion with the king. They admired her more and more after a question and another.

Lastly, the princess said, " I know you are testing me on whether I'm capable enough to be a queen. I'm blind, that is true for sure. But my heart is not. I love you so much as my father is. I will do my best for you. When I find difficulties, I have wonderful people like you, don't I? You are my eyes, my hands, and my legs. Being a queen or a king is not merely one man show. It Will be the work of all of us." Her heart felt so light after that. Her smile shone very brightly.

A man stood up and said, "Nothing is best than a wise queen for us, Princess. Forgive us for doubting you." He bowed, followed by all the kingdom's people.

The king looked at his daughter proudly. He would worry no more. He believed Princess Calathea would be the queen of the people's heart.
